Hi, I’m Ava, and I’m so excited you’re here! This blog is my little corner of the internet where I share my love for cooking, rooted in cherished memories and flavored with fresh, modern twists.

I grew up in a small Midwestern town, where life revolved around family dinners and the comforting aromas wafting from my mom’s kitchen. As a kid, I’d perch on a stool, watching her transform simple ingredients into meals that brought us together; think golden apple pies, simmering stews, and her famous chicken and dumplings. Our backyard garden was her secret weapon, bursting with fresh tomatoes, herbs, and green beans we’d pick together. Those moments sparked my lifelong passion for cooking with seasonal, wholesome ingredients.

Fast forward to now, I’m a city dweller with a busy job and a tiny apartment kitchen. When I first moved here, I missed those home cooked meals so much that I started recreating my mom’s recipes to feel closer to home. But life in the fast lane called for some changes. I began tweaking those classics to fit my schedule, swapping out long simmer times for quick techniques without losing the heart of the dishes. What started as a way to stay connected to my roots turned into a full blown love affair with cooking, and vitality carb was born.
